Movement Med has distinguished itself as a pioneer in Pilates-based rehabilitation and health. With a legacy rooted in a deep understanding of movement and body mechanics, our studio offers a sanctuary for healing and strength.
Though Movement Med was incorporated in 2011, the foundation of our instructors' expertise extends far beyond that.

Our team, composed of highly skilled professionals with 10-35 years of experience, brings a wealth of experience in Pilates, personal training, and rehabilitative therapies. Dedicated to excellence, we ensure a bespoke and evidence-based experience for each individual, focusing on personalized goals and holistic improvement.
SHANE KEITH RHOADS, MS, CSCS - Studio OWNER and founder
Shane Keith Rhoads is a professional trainer with more than 35 years of experience in the fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation industry. His comprehensive background includes working in professional baseball, college athletics, spine and back rehabilitation, physical therapy, private training, and consulting.
For 14 years, Shane worked exclusively in Pilates, helping people with programs adapted for chronic medical conditions, postural alignment, and movement education. He has adopted a more integrative approach, utilizing Pilates as one of many tools or a stand-alone system when appropriate.
This integrative approach includes movement assessment, (re) education, strength training, mobility training, Pilates post-rehabilitation, postural alignment, and proper breathing mechanics. Most importantly, after 35 years and thousands of clients, Shane is dedicated to helping his people achieve results.
Shane has an M.S. in athletic training and a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. He is certified as a Post-Rehab Pilates Instructor through Polestar Education and a strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.
Outside the studio, Shane works as a visual artist, further exploring themes of the physical body and interconnectivity through painting and sculpture. Shane has art collectors in Hawaii, Southern California, Arizona, and Illinois. A strong scientific education combined with an artistic perspective gives Shane a unique approach to working with and educating individuals.
Shane's specialties include post-rehabilitation Pilates, athletic conditioning, fitness and wellness programs, post-rehabilitation, postural and movement balance, and correct alignment and lower back movement programs.
Anna Madejska- Pilates Instructor
Anna Madejska is a Kinesiologist and Pilates Instructor specializing in pelvic health, pelvic floor issues, and prenatal and postpartum corrective workouts.
Anna graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a double major in Human Movement Science and Pre-Medical Studies. Anna has a strong background in Applied Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Movement Neuroscience, and Sport and Exercise Injury Management, coupled with 18 years of experience in movement and manual therapy.
Anna is passionate about teaching therapeutic solutions for neuromusculoskeletal conditions, especially in women's health, specifically in the pelvic floor area. She is keen on promoting awareness of the importance of breathing in pelvic health and linking the kinetic chain structures. Her passion arose from her struggle with structural scoliosis, which started at an early age and drove her to seek therapeutic strategies to help with pain and slow spinal degradation.
Anna completed a Massage Therapy Program and the Thai Yoga Practitioner Program. She recently completed the Pilates Instructor Certification and the Pelvic Health Certification to build and further explore human movement science.
Anna uses her science-based knowledge, extensive experience, and passion for movement to explain the muscle work comprehensively in action to her patients and clients, relate them to functional movements, and share her approach with all future movement enthusiasts.
Dara B. Pogoff LMT, RYT, NCPT, NCCMT
Originally from Minneapolis, Dara began her movement journey as a kid in dance. She danced at the Perpich Center for Arts Education, where she majored in Dance. She completed her dance training at Columbia College Chicago, earning a B.A. in dance and discography. Throughout her time at these schools, Dara was introduced to Pilates, yoga, and massage therapy. She learned how critical it was to use cross-training and self-care to stay in peak condition and feel her best.
Dara graduated from Cortiva Institute in 2010. Her modalities include Trigger Point, Sports, pre/postnatal, cupping, table Thai, lymphatic drainage, Myofascial release, reflexology, and Reiki. Following massage school, Dara completed Pilates training through FFC Classical/Power Pilates, Pilates Chicago, and The Pilates Center of Boulder, CO, where she received her Pilates Diploma, following programs through Corepower Yoga, Yoga Collective, and the Deep Academy. She has also taken multiple Barre training and has experience with Meditation, Breathwork, and Sound Healing.
Dara's background not only helps her with an anatomical and energetic approach but also has knowledge and training with the nervous system. This aids in her ability to teach and relate to the elderly and special cases, such as her training with spinal sore injury patients and blind and former stroke clients. Additionally, Dara is a certified Canine Massage Therapist and credits part of her heightened sensitivity to humans to her work with dogs. She thrives on learning and growing each day.
Erica Mott- Pilates Instructor
Erica Mott is a certified Pilates teacher, trainer, and movement specialist with 30 years of teaching and coaching experience. Erica began her embodied practice as a professional dancer and choreographer. Her years in these fields taught her to observe movement, listen to the body, and collaborate.
After healing injuries through Pilates, Erica began helping other dancers, friends, and neighbors navigate their recovery. She incorporates classical and BASI Pilates, strength and balance training, the Feldenkrais Method, and Body-Mind Centering practices to work with individuals toward lifelong flexible, fluid, and resilient movement.
Ravi Patel, PT, DPT
Ravi was born and raised in the Windy City. He competed as a gymnast and classical ballet dancer, which ultimately fueled his interest in movement sciences and rehabilitation. In 2017, he became a certified Pilates instructor and taught in various settings, helping individuals improve their fitness, pain, and overall function.
In 2023, Ravi received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, adding to his knowledge and approaches to rehabilitation and functional training. Ravi is highly committed to helping individuals reach their wellness goals, improve function and mobility, and foster prevention to live a full and healthy life. By blending his dance and Pilates background with his physical therapy education, Ravi provides a unique and multifaceted approach when working with people.
Jean Nguyen- Massage Therapist
Jean Nguyen is a dedicated Certified Rolfer and Clinical Massage Therapist known for her intuitive touch and deep understanding of the body-mind connection. Jean graduated with honors from the Soma Institute in Chicago in 2011 and dove into deeper studies at the Rolfing Institute in Boulder, CO, graduating in 2015. Jean has cultivated and nourished a holistic approach to bodywork by teaching for several years at the Soma Institute, assisting in advance workshops, and volunteering as a manual therapist at the Chicago Marathon. Jean's goal in a session is to help her individuals achieve balance and relief from pain and tension. During a therapeutic massage or a Rolfing series session, Jean works to counteract dysfunctional movement patterns and promote a pain-free lifestyle.
Through experience, Jean knows that the first step to living with ease is facilitating body awareness and overcoming the day-to-day stresses placed on their bodies. Jean's compassionate nature and commitment to ongoing learning and professional development make her a trusted and respected therapist among her clients and colleagues alike.
Sonam Sayania, PT, DPT
Dr. Sonam Sayania is a physical therapist and yoga instructor. She is a first-generation Indian American, born in Georgia and raised in Alabama.
With more than six years of experience as a physical therapist, Dr. Sonam is passionate about treating pelvic floor dysfunction and general chronic pain. She is also passionate about enhancing lives by guiding, instructing, and consulting to optimize overall well-being through physical therapy, yoga, and coaching.
Dr. Sonam aims to help individuals improve their lives and functions. She has been a physical therapist since 2019 and took her pelvic health continuing education courses through the American Physical Therapy Association in 2020. Dr. Sonam finds great joy in being outdoors in nature, playing tennis, practicing yoga on and off the mat, and biking the lakeshore path in Chicago.
Clare Kramer PT, DPT
Clare received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Governors State University in 2022. She is from northwestern Illinois, where she grew up playing multiple sports and ultimately participated in Women’s Basketball & Softball at Augustana College. Clare’s love for sports helped foster her overall appreciation for movement and function, and later, as a physical therapist, she developed her passion for working with orthopedic and sports medicine patient populations.
Throughout her schooling, however, she has also grown an appreciation for working with neurological, women’s health, and vestibular populations. Since working as a DPT, Clare has taken continuing education courses to become certified in Trigger-Point Dry Needling and specialized in Concussion and Vestibular Management. She has also learned many Pilates-based exercises that fuel patients to achieve balance, mobility, and functional goals.
