Why Movement Med Is Different

At Movement Med, we believe everyone deserves a positive movement experience – no matter their age, condition, or starting point. Unlike traditional gyms, our approach blends functional strength training, Pilates, medical exercise and massage to support people managing injury, pain, or chronic conditions. Our mission is rooted in a simple idea: move well, move often, move longer. We help our clients build confidence through intentional movement, expert care, and personalized plans. It’s why so many members refer their friends, family, and even their doctors to us.

Meet the Experts at Movement Med

Our Team includes specialists in Pilates, medical exercise, personal training, physical therapy, somatic release, dry needling, massage and more for clients 40 + (although we happily work with all ages!). Many of our staff hold advanced certifications and have worked extensively with clients who are facing spinal injuries, Parkinson’s, stroke recovery, chronic pain, and post-surgical rehab, but all bodies and experiences are welcome. While we’re anatomy nerds at heart, we’re known just as much for our warmth, humor, and the community we’ve created. From your first consultation to your hundredth session, you’ll feel the difference in how deeply we care.

Shane Rhoads,
M.S.Ed, C.S.C.S.

Founder / Co-Owner

Shane Keith Rhoads is a movement specialist with over 35 years of experience in fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation. His background spans professional baseball, collegiate athletics, spine and back rehabilitation, physical therapy, private training, and consulting.

This wide-ranging expertise informs his holistic, results-driven approach to working with individuals of all abilities. For 14 years, Shane worked exclusively in Pilates, designing programs for people managing chronic conditions, recovering from injury, or seeking better postural alignment. While he continues to use Pilates as a powerful tool, he now integrates it with movement assessment, mobility and strength training, postural realignment, and breathing mechanics. His goal is simple: to help clients move with greater strength, function, and confidence. Shane holds a Master of Science in Athletic Training and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified Post-Rehabilitation Pilates Instructor through Polestar Education. Beyond the studio, Shane is a visual artist exploring themes of embodiment and interconnectivity through painting and sculpture. His work is held in private collections in Hawaii, Southern California, Arizona, and Illinois. This unique combination of scientific rigor and artistic sensibility allows Shane to approach the human body as both a biomechanical system and a work of art. Shane’s specialties include post-rehabilitation Pilates, athletic conditioning, spinal health, postural and movement re-education, and functional strength and mobility programs. With a deep commitment to each client, Shane helps people reconnect with their bodies, overcome limitations, and build a more resilient future.

She has completed Massage Therapy and Thai Yoga Practitioner training, as well as certifications in Pilates Instruction and Pelvic Health. These tools allow Anna to bridge the gap between manual therapy and intelligent movement, helping clients build body awareness, correct imbalances, and improve overall function.
